Speaker 1: Unbelievable. I would tell them that I couldn't see yesterday, but I can see today.

Speaker 2: It really was dramatic, to be honest with you.

Speaker 3: Because of the TECNIS Multifocal Lenses, I have my sight back.

Speaker 4: When light passes through a clear lens, the light can focus to a point, creating a clear view. Over time, the lens can become cloudy or opaque, developing into a cataract. When light passes through a cataract, the light gets distorted, creating a blurred view. Compared to vision with a clear lens, your vision with a cataract may look fuzzy or cloudy and colors might be muted. These visual disturbances from cataracts are progressive and when they become bothersome or limit your daily activities, it's time to consider treatment.

Speaker 4: In addition to cataracts, many people over age 40 also have vision affected by presbyopia. Presbyopia is a common age-related condition that causes the natural lens inside the eye to harden and become less flexible. This reduces the eyes' ability to switch focus from near, intermediate, far and back again. The earliest symptom of presbyopia is difficulty seeing things up close without the aid of reading glasses. Presbyopia gets progressively worse and results in vision getting more and more blurry, especially for near vision activities such as reading. Together, presbyopia and cataracts may drastically impair the vision you rely on for daily activities.

Speaker 1: It got to the point where it was a total blur. I couldn't see anything out of my left eye.

Speaker 2: I drive at night. I was having difficulty seeing at night. My daughter came in from out of town and I had a hard time finding the airport signs to take her back to the airport.

Speaker 3: I like to do handwork and I couldn't do it. I would have to wear maybe one, maybe two pairs of glasses. I've never worn glasses in my life and I didn't want to wear glasses.

Speaker 4: The TECNIS Multifocal Lens provides a single solution that addresses both cataracts and the near vision blur caused by presbyopia, giving you greater vision freedom with less dependence on glasses for near, intermediate and distance vision. Precautions, if your eye is not healthy, including glaucoma, you may not get the full benefits of the TECNIS Multifocal IOLs.

Speaker 4: The TECNIS Multifocal Lens has helped thousands of people gain independence from glasses for the first time since they were young. Nearly 9 out of 10 patients enjoy freedom from glasses after receiving the TECNIS Multifocal Lens. An overwhelming majority of people who have chosen the TECNIS Multifocal Lens are very satisfied with their vision following their procedure. In fact, close to 92% of patients said they would choose the TECNIS Multifocal Lens again. Warnings, a very small number of patients, less than 1%, may not be satisfied and request removal of their multifocal IOL. See important safety information at the end of the video.

Speaker 3: First thing I noticed when I had it done was I noticed that the colors were brighter.

Speaker 1: My wife always said that I was a horrible driver at night. I never thought that that's what it was, but I think probably I didn't see as well at night with my previous vision. I mean, they said I might have some brightness issues that would bother me. I can even drive at night. My wife just feels better about it.

Speaker 3: I guess I noticed beforehand when I was driving the headlights of oncoming cars with blur out, which they still blur out some but not near to the extent they did. I can now identify where they are and react appropriately in driving. Once in a while I might still see a halo around a light, but not near like I did as we started, more like before my sight ever started blurring everything out.

Speaker 1: I got home, and next morning I woke up and I could see the time on the clock. I thought I forgot to take my contact out. There was just, hey, that's my eyesight.

Speaker 4: If you suffer from poor vision due to cataracts and near vision blur caused by presbyopia, talk to your doctor about surgical options and the TECNIS Multifocal Lens. Once it is determined that you are a good candidate for the TECNIS Multifocal Lens, you will be given additional information about the possible risks, complications, and costs involved with the procedure. The lens you choose for your cataract surgery will create your vision for the rest of your life. Reviewing your lifestyle, vision goals, and lens options with your doctor prior to surgery will help you both ensure that the lens you choose is right for you. Some patients may experience glare and halos under poor light conditions with the TECNIS Multifocal Lens. The glare and halos may reduce over time.

Speaker 4: Look forward to freedom from cataract and more youthful vision with the TECNIS Multifocal Lens. Look forward to more life from your vision.

Speaker 2: Before I lost a lot of golf balls and now I actually see where I hit. I'm not sure if it helped my game. It helped me be able to retrieve my ball much better.

Speaker 1: You can see close up, far away and also for reading. I would recommend everyone that has an opportunity to get this lens to do it, the sooner the better.

Speaker 3: I think I see as well as I'd ever seen, and away from glasses. I don't have to worry where I put my glasses anymore.

Speaker 2: My first comment to the doctor was, "Can you do the other eye?"

Speaker 4: Important indications and safety information, please reference the labeling for a complete listing of important indications and safety information. Approved use, the TECNIS Multifocal and TECNIS 1-piece Multifocal Interocular Lens IOL is an artificial lens designed to be placed inside a patient's eye to replace their natural lens after cataract surgery. The lens is used for adult patients who desire near, intermediate and distance vision with increased spectacle independence. Talk to your doctor to find out if the TECNIS Multifocal IOLs are right for you.

Speaker 4: Warnings, existing eye conditions and surgical difficulties may increase the risk of complications. Your doctor will determine if you are a good candidate for lens replacement. Under poor visibility conditions such as dim light or fog, your vision may be reduced. You may perceive halos and/or glare around lights under nighttime driving conditions, and therefore may need to take extra care when driving at night. A very small number of patients, less than 1%, may not be satisfied and request removal of their multifocal IOL.

Speaker 4: Precautions, if your eye is not healthy, including glaucoma, you may not get the full benefits of the TECNIS Multifocal IOLs. Before surgery, your doctor will check to see if you have any eye diseases. If you wear contact lenses, your doctor may ask you to stop wearing them before being tested for the lens. Your doctor will tell you what activities to avoid while you are recovering from surgery. There is a chance that your vision with a multifocal IOL may not be good enough to perform very near or detailed up close work without glasses.

Speaker 4: Side effects, side effects with the TECNIS Multifocal IOLs included macular edema, a swelling, thickening of an area in the retina. There was a need for a second surgery to replace, reposition, or remove the new lens, or to repair structures of the eye. Caution, federal law restricts this device to sale by or on the order of a physician.
