Meet Dr. J. David Karlin
As the newest member of Ophthalmology Associates of the Valley, Dr. J. David Karlin is an experienced, board-certified ophthalmologist who has over 30 years of performing thousands of advanced eye surgeries. He routinely performs cataract, refractive, cosmetic, and glaucoma procedures. In addition, Dr. Karlin has experience with more complicated procedures, such as implanting premium intraocular lenses (IOL), which can lead to spectacle independence for over 15 years.
Dr. Karlin graduated from the Medical College of Wisconsin, completed his internal medicine and ophthalmology residencies in New York, and started his practice in West Hills in 1980. When he is not at Ophthalmology Associates of the Valley, he is an assistant clinical professor of ophthalmology at UCLA's Stein Eye Institute. For his outstanding job as an assistant professor, he recently received "Teacher of the Year."
Additionally, he speaks Farsi and some Spanish.

Dr. Karlin is skilled at diagnosing, treating, and managing eye conditions. He specializes in advanced treatments, including diabetic retinopathy, LASIK, glaucoma surgery, cosmetic eyelid surgery, laser cataract surgery, retinal tears, and cornea transplants. For patients who suffer from certain eye diseases, like macular degeneration, eye floaters and eye flashes, and uveitis, he can help manage the symptoms associated with these issues. He also helps patients with general eye healthcare, performs routine eye exams, and fits them for contacts or glasses.
